Boise Traffic Box Wraps are scattered all over the city. My traffic wrap design, Frank, uses agricultural imagery referencing Frank Allumbaugh’s nearby dairy (established in 1919 and locally owned until 1956) and the area’s Illingsworth farm that grew wheat, grain, apples and cherries in the 1900s.
I used vivid oil pastels on thick scratchboard paper and then cut and layered the papers in a collage, which I had scanned. My goal was to create depth and interest in an agricultural scene and be very expressive with color. I also wanted to include one or two delightful little cows.
Frank is located on Cole Road near Allumbaugh Street in West Boise.
