making art specific to its place

I’m a designer who thrives on new challenges and collaborations in public art and graphic design. My background is in architecture, but I feel all art and design disciplines are interconnected.

As a public artist and a cultural planner, I strive for my work to be rooted in its particular place, responding in a meaningful and distinct way to the community, and to its natural and built environment. Using materials like steel and aluminum, I partner with the best local craftsmen to bring my public art installations to life. I often pepper my work with organic forms, textures, and vibrant color palettes. I bring the same design sense to my graphic design and hand lettering work, from logos and brochures to illustration and signage design.

Recent personal work includes creating miniature historic buildings, farmhouses, barns, cottages and more. I’ve made over 150 little buildings, and a person might say I’m a bit obsessed.

I received my Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon. I worked at various design firms before I started my own design studio in 1997.

I’m on the public art roster for Oregon and for the state of Washington. I’m also an artist on contract with the City of Boise Arts & History Department, and the City of Meridian Parks Department.

In addition to design, my favorite things are my family, purring cats, gigantic necklaces, the thrift store hunt, throwing parties, biking on the greenbelt, homemade egg rolls, Spacedust IPA, sledding, and Earl Grey tea. Not necessarily in that order, but probably.
